Horse The Partner

horses as self-development partners & feedback experts

About 70.000 years ago, homo sapiens developed the cognitive capability of abstract thinking, i.e. imagination and storytelling. One could say that that was the invention of lying. Horses on the other hand have never had such a cognitive breakthrough and have remained transparent. They constantly show how they feel and are incapable of lying. Moreover, horses are prey animals and live in herds with clear hierarchy and a distinct leader. Their thus particularly high sensitivity to each other and their surroundings, combined with the dependance on wise leadership and harmony in the herd to ensure survival, makes them experts in giving honest feedback.

Horses naturally and objectively react to a person's expression. People who interact with horses are surprised how quickly they can learn new things about themselves, without feeling judged. Our sessions benefit from this remarkable dynamic and provide a platform for instant self-awareness and practical self-improvement.

Session Structure

individual sessions & team workshops

Our sessions vary in length, topic focus and number of participants, but we follow the same structure for all of them to ensure consistency and clarity for our clients:

  1. Pre-session call: Basic information, suitability check and scheduling. Min. 1 week in advance.

  2. Discovery: Clarify needs and expectations, set goals for the session.

  3. Task: Interact with horses, complete exercises, receive and apply feedback from horses (and if applicable from other participants).

  4. Feedback discussion: Reflect on the task and investigate i.a. patterns, motivation and strengths in relation to previously defined needs, goals and expectations.

  5. Transfer: Implement the insights from the session in the daily (work) life through specific measures and develop next steps. Realize the added value and measurable progress.

    Optional:

  6. Follow-up: Reinforce the insights and improvements since the session to ensure continuity in development.

Team workshops can host between two and eight participants. We assign one horse for every two people.

What facilities do you use and what should I wear?

We use a meeting room and an indoor riding arena, so wear sturdy shoes and casual clothes plus a coat for colder weather.
